During History in the House Day, The Wright Museum is honored to present a dynamic panel conversation celebrating the legacy of Alvin Ailey and the significant impact of Black women dancers in shaping American dance. Ailey, one of the most influential figures in modern dance, founded the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, a company that has provided a powerful platform for Black dancers and choreographers, amplifying their artistry and cultural narratives on the global stage.
This thought-provoking discussion, moderated by Lance Wheeler, VP of Learning & Engagement at The Wright, will explore Ailey’s transformative work and the vital contributions of Black women in dance, both past and present. The conversation will take place on Saturday, March 8th, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM in the General Motors Theatre.
