How to Volunteer at The Wright
The Museum offers several volunteer opportunities for museum supporters. If you are interested in learning more, please email volunteer@thewright.org with all your questions.
Volunteer Requirements
- 18+ years old (limited HS service projects available)
- Must attend Volunteer Orientation
- Volunteer at least (1) full hour shift
- Consent to a background check

Thank you for inquiring about volunteering at The Wright Museum. Our next Volunteer Orientation is virtual and is on Thursday 1/23/25 from 6-7pm. Attending orientation is required to become registered as a volunteer.
Volunteer Usher Program
Are you passionate about community service and cultural enrichment? We're looking for volunteers to enhance our guests' experiences at the Charles Wright Museum!
The Volunteer Usher Program is vital to ensuring an exceptional experience for our visitors and supporting the cultural and educational programs of the Charles Wright Museum of African American History. As an usher, you'll help ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for our visitors by welcoming them, guiding them to their seats, and assisting with any needs throughout their time at The Wright.
About the Charles Wright Museum GM Theatre:
The GM Theatre is an integral part of the Charles Wright Museum, hosting a diverse array of events including theatrical performances, lectures, film screenings, and community gatherings. These events celebrate African American history, culture, and the arts, playing a vital role in our museum’s mission.
Requirements:
Enthusiastic volunteers
Can commit to 3+ shifts during the season
