History in the House: Black Love – Community Day Finale

Saturday, March 8th | Mingle at 6pm, Program at 7pm

6:00 PM – 7:00 PM Mix & Mingle / Program 7:00 PM-9:00PM
GM Theater

Love is at the heart of every movement, every community, and every revolution. Inspired by the deep and unwavering love that Dr. Charles H. Wright had for his people and the city of Detroit, this special Community Day Finale celebrates the power of Black love in all its forms—romantic, familial, communal, and self-love.

Drawing from the words of Nikki Giovanni’s iconic poem Resignation, this event honors love as an act of resistance, resilience, and radical joy. From the streets of Detroit to the halls of history, Black love has been the foundation of progress and the fire that fuels change.
Curated by La Shaun phoenix Moore, this gathering will feature storytelling, music, art, and interactive experiences, inviting families, friends, and neighbors to celebrate in the spirit of love and community.

Whether you come with a partner, a friend, or simply an open heart, Black Love: Community Day Finale is a space to celebrate the bonds that sustain us, inspire us, and keep us moving forward—just as Dr. Wright envisioned.

Join us for a day of love, connection, and joy!
