Juneteenth Jubilee Celebration
Looking for a safe space to commemorate and celebrate Juneteenth? Join us at The Wright and enjoy several engaging and educational activities. From live singing and storytelling to pony rides and hustle dance classes. We have something for all ages. Come have fun, learn something impactful, and engage with the community in a way that only The Wright can.
Entertainment features music by DJ Righteous throughout the day; MC J Bell will be on hand to present live performances by cellist and vocalist King Sophia, storytelling and music by Mama Jahra, diasporic drum, dance and folklore from Ngoma Za Amen-Ra and Alnur African Dance Company and culminating with a community dance, Hustle for History with Thomasenia Johnson.
Engagement with the League of Women Voters, Detroit Equestrian Play Theatre (Pony Rides at Warren Avenue Circle Drive), Detroit Hives, Detroit Black Farmer Land Fund, Detroit Black Community Food Network and Vendor Qonnect curates the Food Trucks: Spice Rack Catering, Junk Food & Friends and La’s Lemonade and more!
