Charles H. Wright Museum to Open Educational and Engaging "Voting Matters" Exhibition, Showcasing the Historic Struggle for the Right to Vote!

The Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History, on Sunday, September 27th, will unveil an interactive multimedia exhibition entitled "Voting Matters". This exciting educational presentation foregrounds the role of African Americans in securing the right to vote in the United States. It is designed in five parts to illustrate the influential role of African Americans in the process, beginning with Pre-Reconstruction and traveling through to the present day. “We are excited to open our doors to this extraordinary exhibit, especially during some unique and unprecedented times in American history”, says Neil Barclay, President & CEO of The Wright. “This exhibit is large enough to occupy two of our main galleries and will educate & inspire visitors through April 2021”.

The ‘Voting Matters’ exhibit chronicles the journey in American History from Pre-Reconstruction, through Reconstruction, The Women's Suffrage Movement, The Electoral College and Gerrymandering. As this exhibition dives into the development of basic principles and values surrounding our current understanding of what it means to have the “Right to Vote”, both in the United States and in democratic societies, visitors are encouraged to log on to www.thewright.org to schedule their visit.

As a benefit of having a museum membership, The Wright will host a ‘Members Only’ preview on Saturday, September 26th from 2 - 4 PM. Members should schedule their timed visit at www.thewright.org/visit.
