Enjoy an evening of art, live music, cocktails, and light fare at our monthly Third Thursdays mixer at the Wright! This month’s program is hosted and curated by Ben Will, an artist who uses poetry, musical performance, and storytelling to invite audiences into creative moments of self-discovery and joy. 

This Thursday’s lineup features an array of Detroit’s talented artists including Betty-Alexandria Pride, Crystal P, Solfull Poetry, Arielle Crosby, Johdi, BRYCE LP, Justin From Finance and introducing Chorus of Cousins. Wear your favorite holiday sweater to showcase your festive holiday spirit in style! 

Third Thursdays at The Wright includes access to our latest special exhibition, Ruth E. Carter: Afrofuturism in Costume Design. Galleries are open until 7pm! The event is Free and Open to the Public but registration is required. More about the host, curator and artists

Ben Will (producer/curator/host) Ben Will is an artist who uses poetry, musical performance, and storytelling to guide audiences into creative moments of self discovery where they feel worthy of their joy. A native to Detroit, MI., Ben’s empathetically invigorating performance style has been seen on local and international stages for a variety of audiences, including a recent cultural ambassador partnership with the US Embassy in Belgium and opening for New York Times bestselling author Rupi Kaur.

Betty-Alexandria Pride (Music Director) Musician Betty-Alexandria Pride is the pianist/vocalist for up and coming group Eminent Vibrations. She plays several instruments, teaches, and accompanies. Over the years, she has won various awards including 1st place prize in the NAACP ACTSO competition nationally for Music Composition (2011). Betty- Alexandria aims to spread her gift and love for music with others. 

Crystal P. (Comedienne) Crystal P. has opened for Diana Ross, Steve Harvey, Stephanie Mills, The Whispers, The O’Jays, Marvin Sapp, CeCe Winans and many, many more. She has appeared on Showtime at the Apollo, Last Coming Standing, America’s Got Talent, several stage productions, movies and other entertainment events. 

 

Arielle Crosby (Lead Vocalist) Arielle Crosby (she/her) has vocally graced stages across the globe from Palau de Música in Barcelona to Carnegie Hall in New York and has theatrically performed all across the North American continent. Theatrical highlights: Motown the Musical National Tour, Murder Ballad (Detroit Public Theatre), Memphis (Mason Street Warehouse), Twelfth Night and Romeo & Juliet (Oregon Shakespeare Festival). She was just seen in DPT’s Holiday Cabaret. 

 

BRYCE LP (Lead Vocalist) BRYCE LP is an actor and singer-songwriter from Detroit. He developed a passion for music at age 3 while singing in church. Bryce's love for music grew as he listened to a variety of artists and genres throughout his life. His musical influences include Michael Jackson, Beyoncé and Luther Vandross. He’s worked as a background vocalist for many of our favorite artists including Aretha Franklin and Drake. He’s been blessed to connect with audiences all over the world with music and he’s excited to do the same with you tonight. 

 

Johdi (Lead Vocalist) Johdi was born and raised on the Westside of Detroit MI. She started singing at just 2 years old and discovered her love and passion for music at the young age of 7 years old. Johdi has performed on many stages and has opened for many great names such as The Jackson’s, Dru Hill, Eric Benet, Morris Day, Avery Sunshine, Vivian Green, and Maimouna Youssef (MuMu Fresh). Her latest project Stupid Girl EP and singles 24 Hours and Too Good are available everywhere for streaming and purchasing! 

Solfull Poetry (Featured Poet) Michigan born poet Earl Cooper (aka Solfull Poetry) is an Event curator and creator of the brand “Love Related”. Solfull has traveled across the country touring, released a poetry book titled “To Love From Me” and performed at multiple festivals and colleges. Solfull also has done with Detroit Public Schools. 

Justin From Finance (Lead Vocalist) Justin From Finance is a creative from Detroit expressing music through the sound of soul and jazz. Appearing in internationally touring collectives (Mosaic Youth Theater), productions (Now That I Can Dance, Dream Girls, Hairspray, etc.), and national news gave them first moments in the spotlight, but also reminded of the unique gift for invigorating every part of their existence with art.
