Gallery Talk: A Journey Through Portraiture

Thursday, February 27, 2025 | 6pm-7pm

Join us for an enlightening gallery talk exploring A Journey Through Portraiture, an exhibition celebrating the remarkable legacy of Michigan artist Paul Collins. Known for his exceptional figurative work, Collins captured the nuanced complexity of the human experience through his travels and art.

During this special event, you’ll hear from our Kevin Davidson, Director of Design and Fabrication, and Jonathan Jones, Manager of Youth and Family Programming. Together, they’ll share insights into Collins’ artistic journey, his process, and the cultural stories embedded in his portraits.

This exhibition features Collins’ work spanning decades and continents, reflecting the strength, dignity, and beauty of the people he encountered. Through interactive and inclusive interpretation, we bring these stories to life for audiences of all ages. From engaging conversations to hands-on learning experiences, we aim to make the artwork accessible and meaningful to everyone, inviting reflection on how learning about new cultures fosters empathy and shapes our understanding of ourselves.

The event is free with museum admission, and requires registration.
