Open Call for Detroit's Black Artists!

Celebrating 60 Years of legacy and vision

In 2025, The Charles H. Wright Museum celebrates an incredible milestone. It was six decades ago when Dr. Wright's vision, to ensure children and youth knew their history, began. Today, The Charles H. Wright Museum, inspired by Dr. Wright's vision, is excited to kick off a year-long initiative where we intentionally celebrate our past and create our future.

Join our 60th Anniversary Exhibition

Please consider an opportunity to participate in our 60th year anniversary contemporary art exhibition (Spring 2025 through Winter 2026). When Dr. Charles H. Wright established the museum, artists of Detroit were a part of his vision. He and his collaborative team of stakeholders created a groundbreaking and transformative gathering space focused on African American history, art, and culture. As the visual arts plays a central role in critiquing, representing, expressing, and imagining our world, our anniversary wish is to celebrate Detroit's Black Artists.
