2024 Roberta Hughes Wright Memorial Golf Classic
WHO: The Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History's Women's Committee proudly presents The Roberta Hughes Wright Memorial Golf Classic.
WHY: The Golf Classic is named in recognition of award-winning author, educator, and humanitarian Dr. Roberta Hughes Wright. Dr. Roberta Hughes Wright was the wife of The Wright Museum founder, Dr. Charles H. Wright. She remained involved in the Museums activities and affairs until her passing, on April 2, 2019, at the age of 96. The establishment of the Roberta Hughes Wright Memorial Golf Classic exemplifies the Women's Committee's efforts to ensure the exploration of African American History and Culture through community involvement.
WHERE: Glen Oaks Golf Course, 30500 West 13 Mile Road, Farmington Hills, MI
WHEN: Friday, July 19th from 7:30am to 3:30pm (8:30am Shotgun Start/Scramble)
WHAT: Join us for a fun-filled day of golf, food, and a silent auction that has something to offer both golfers and non-golfers alike. Golf outing proceeds provides general operating support and funding for programs at the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History. Registration for golfers is $175 per golfer, $680 for a foursome and $75 for non-golfers.
About The Golf Classic
The establishment of the Roberta Hughes Wright Golf Classic amplifies the efforts of The Wight Museum's Women's Committee, while honoring the memory of Roberta Hughes Wright. The goal is to highlight the mission and vision of The Wright while creating a unique day of fun for golfers from the Michigan region. To help make this incredible day possible, The Wright Museum has partnered with Glen Oaks Golf Course. Proceeds will provide general operating support & funding for programs at the Wright Museum.

The Women's Committee promotes and supports The Wright Museum through volunteering and community involvement. The efforts of the Women's Committee increase visibility and enhance the legacy of the Museum through financial support.

The Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History was founded in 1965 and is in the heart of Midtown Detroit's Cultural Center. The Wright Museum's mission is to open minds and change lives through exploration and celebration of African American History and Culture - the museum's 22,000 square foot, immersive core exhibit - is one of the largest, single exhibitions surveying the history of African Americans. The Wright Museum houses over 35,000 artifacts and archival materials and offers more than 300 public programs and events annually.
