Actress CCH Pounder to introduce her personal exhibition QUEEN at The Wright
On January 28, 2020, the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History will open the doors to a new exhibit, QUEEN: From the Collection of CCH Pounder. which features sculptures, paintings and mixed media works by such luminaries as Harmonia Rosales, Betye and Alison Saar, and Kehinde Wiley!
Emmy-nominated NCIS: New Orleans actress CCH Pounder has made a name for herself in more than just one discipline: her talents extend to the world of art collecting, too. Pounder selected pieces from her collection that focused on black women through the lenses of feminine beauty, identity and power. "It opens up a conversation about art and women," Sarah Clunis, gallery director of Xavier University said of the exhibit. "For black women to be able to enter a museum and have a conversation about fine art and to be able to see themselves in it, that's important."
On Saturday, January 25th, CCH Pounder will hold a Question & Answer session for all Media, including a video taping inside the exhibit with Detroit Public Television, prior to serving as the host of an exclusive VIP Dinner.
“We are extremely excited to have this much anticipated collection open at the Charles H. Wright Museum,” says Neil Barclay, CEO of the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History.
Located at 315 East Warren Avenue in Midtown Detroit, the exhibition will be on display from January 28 through April 15, 2020. Details for public programming in support of the exhibition have been released.
