photo-71The Bombay Sapphire® Artisan Series, now in its fourth year, is an annual competition co-presented by Bombay Sapphire® Gin and Russell and Danny Simmons' Rush Philanthropic Arts Foundation. The goal of the series is to provide exposure for artists of nearly all visual mediums, allowing them to compete for the chance to have their work showcased during Art Basel, the world's premier international art show for modern and contemporary works.BBC 8222012 20131017 9 13

Detroit area artists submitted images of 147 works of art to the online competition, 24 pieces were selected for inclusion in the local exhibition, which will be hosted at the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History. The opening reception for the exhibition will be held in the Multipurpose Gallery at The Wright Museum on Friday, October 25, 2013, 7:00 PM – 10:00 PM.

BBC 8222012 20131017 9 12lrThe Detroit exhibition includes works of emerging, experienced, and master artists such as Clifford Wade, Valencia Brockington, Lobyn Hamilton, Raymond Wells, Desiree Kelly, and Allie McGhee. One artist from the exhibition and two from the online competition will be selected to travel, along with his or her art, to Art Basel in Miami, Florida. Unless otherwise noted, all artworks are available for sale. From any art sales made during the exhibition, 50% percent of the total will go to the artist and 50% will be donated to The Wright Museum.
