Wright Life Series runs from April 1, 2018 through February 16, 2019 to celebrate and honor the centennial birthday and the monumental contributions of Dr. Charles H. Wright, a “tenacious warrior,” for his lifelong dedication to people of African descent in Detroit and the Diaspora.

Medical Films of the African Diaspora


Author of the acclaimed book, Medical Apartheid: The Dark History of Medical Experimentation on Black Americans from Colonial Times to the Present, Harriet A. Washington is a science writer, editor and ethicist who has been a Research Fellow in Medical Ethics at Harvard Medical School, Visiting Fellow at the Harvard TH Chan School of Public Health, a visiting scholar at DePaul University College of Law and a senior research scholar at the National Center for Bioethics at Tuskegee University.


Advanced Care Michigan

Advanced Care of Michigan is a nonprofit health organization that works to educate the community on the importance of good nutrition, alternative medicine, exercise, mental and emotional well-being. A.C.M. accomplishes this mission through a series of health education seminars and workshops in the metro-Detroit area. 



LUMEN Behavioral Health

Lumen Behavioral Health was established to address the increasing rate of untreated mental illness. Our organization is comprised of knowledgeable mental health and legal professionals dedicated to providing services and reducing the stigma associated with mental illness. Lumen’s goal is to bridge the gap between the community and mental health providers through creative education and dialogue.
