Part 1 of this two part series features a conversation between writer, storyteller, human rights activist, and Professor of English & Comparative Literature, University of California, Irvine Ngũgĩ wa Thiong'o, Ph.D.; and Gloria House, Ph.D. 2019 Kresge Eminent Artist, human rights activist, Professor Emeritia and Former Chair, African American History at University of Michigan, as well as Professor Emeritia, Humanities at Wayne State University.

This program was created in support of the upcoming exhibition, Slavery at Jefferson's Monticello: Paradox of Liberty.
