Marion Hayden & Middle Passage Exiles | REBELLION: JAZZ AND THE ROOTS OF HIP-HOP | 8 Piece Band Concert with Poetry of Dr. Melba Joyce Boyd

Sunday, July 23 at 6 PM

Music is an important way of expression, especially during tumultuous times such as the 1967 Detroit Rebellion. Jazz and hip-hop represent the voices of the community who are in protest, and responds to the significant events of that era and its continuing consequences.

This program is part of The Wright Museum's opening week of events for Say It Loud: Art, History, Rebellion, and also commemorates the 50th anniversary of the 1967 Detroit Rebellion.
