Prepare to feel uplifted.  Black Women in Medicine honors contemporary black women around the country who work diligently in all facets of medicine.  Through first-hand accounts from a cross-section of black female pioneers in healthcare – including DR. CLAUDIA THOMAS, the first black female orthopedic surgeon, and DR. JOCELYN ELDERS, the first black woman to hold the position of Untied States Surgeon General– the film details the challenges black women have experienced and continue to face today in their drive to practice medicine.  You’ll hear from women young and old, and see their unique perspectives as they navigate a landscape where they are few and far between.
