Liberation Film Series: Racial Violence & The 1898 Wilmington Massacre

The Liberation Film Series continues with a free screening of "Wilmington on Fire." Learn about the 1898 Wilmington Massacre, a bloody attack on an African-American community by a heavily armed white mob with the support of the North Carolina Democratic Party that was a starting point of the white supremacy movement. Featuring speakers Christopher Everett, Filmmaker and Dr. Geoff Ward, Associate Professor, Criminology, Law & Society, University of California, Irvine.

The Year of Rebellion programming is presented in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the 1967 Detroit Rebellion. This event is free and open to the public. For more information call (313) 494-5800.
