Come sit in and savor the one-of-a-kind pieces of functional artwork designed by Detroit native and Wright museum donor Ernest McClenney. Each piece is handmade from re-purposed OEM auto seats, giving "a new meaning in auto seating" with ReSeatables!

Lovingly handcrafted by McClenney, a veteran of both the U.S. Navy and American auto industry, ReSeatables are custom-made recliners, sofas and love seats crafted from repurposed car seats. McClenney, a retired Chrysler production control analyst, saw a new purpose for the engineering and ergonomic design that went into the production of automotive seats by “re-seating” them into one-of-a-kind pieces of functional art. As beautiful as they are, seeing does no justice to their comfort – and as durable furnishings, they are meant to be used, in the home or office. Each ReSeatable is a unique conversation piece. They’ve been featured in The Detroit News, Homestyle Magazine, the Woodward Dream Cruise, The Henry Ford Innovation Institute, and the Detroit Historical Museum. Learn more at!
