Sofrito of Cultures Community Performance

  • The award-winning Living Arts Youth Dance Ensemble invites all to a free and fun community event!

     

  • Lead by Master Teacher and dance artist Penny Godboldo and Living Arts’ Teaching Artist Miryam Johnson, Living Arts Detroit’s award-winning Youth Dance Ensemble trained in the Katherine Dunham Technique of dance—which blends European ballet, modern, jazz, and classical African movement—in a two-week dance intensive.

    This engaging performance will include live music accompaniment by Chinelo “Chi” Amen-Ra and Osvaldo “Ozzie” Rivera. Audience members will be invited to participate in the performance. Reception to follow.

    This project is supported in part by the National Endowment for the Arts, and the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History.
