Ambassador Carol Moseley Braun became the first African American woman ever elected to the U.S. Senate, serving for six years. As U.S. Senator, Ambassador Braun became the first woman to serve on the powerful Senate Finance Committee and earned a reputation as a champion of women’s rights and civil rights. She, along with Sandra Finley will be delivering the lecture.
